                      Nutcracker 2020

This year, Everybody can DANCE's annual performance of The Nutcracker is going to be a little different: we will be filming the various dances at local Central Coast locations! Students of all ages and levels are invited to perform!

Rehearsal and filming dates coming soon!

This is what 6 feet looks like!

Face shields (available from ECD) must be worn for all indoor activities. Masks may be worn, but may interfere with breathing during exercise.

As students will be alternating use of indoor and outdoor space for workouts, it is recommended they wear short-sleeved or tank style leotard, no tights – rather ankle socks and optionally dance shorts or short dance skirt.

DRESSING ROOMS ARE CLOSED – Students should come dressed and prepared to dance, with hair secured up off the face and neck.

Diane Rose Zink - Founder, Artistic Director

DIANE ROSE ZINK is the founder and artistic director of the non-profit Everybody Can DANCE, a Christian-based academy that since 1985 offers a standard of excellence in a loving environment for all regardless of race or creed.

DIANE has over 30 years experience performing, teaching, and choreographing in ballet and musical theater.  She studied for 8 years with Meri Lynn Beebe of the Chicago Opera Ballet, who received training from Vera Volkova, one of the first pupils of Agrippina Vaganova, founder of the renowned Vaganova method used by the famous Kirov Ballet and all major ballet companies worldwide.  Diane took master’s classes for four years with stars of the American Ballet Theater, studied with Ruth Ann Koesun and John Kriza, and for three years she appeared on stage with ABT in their Chicago performances.  She danced professionally with the Right Combination.  For 15 years Diane studied the Vaganova method of teaching with a Karen Morell, a graduate of the Vaganova Choreographic Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia, which trains teachers for the Kirov Ballet.  The number of trained teachers in this country is very limited, and ECD has the only Vaganova trained teachers in the area.

Santa Maria Civic Ballet

The SANTA MARIA CIVIC BALLET, founded in 2008 under the auspices of Everybody Can DANCE, consists of advanced dancers (Vaganova Level 5 and up) who can perform professional level choreography.

Admittance to the company is by audition with the artistic director, Diane Rose Zink.  A company class meets weekly, and company members also take classes for ballet technique, character, and pointe.  These classes give company members a challenging structure in which to practice and perform their art, and prepare motivated students who wish to pursue a career in ballet.

Coaching and preparation for ballet competitions is offered for advanced students, as well as unique choreography to display their distinctive talents. Additionally, the opportunity to learn to teach the Vaganova Syllabus used by classical ballet companies worldwide is made available to advanced students.

Authentic choreography from classical ballets is taught and performed as well as new choreographic works.  The most technically difficult lead parts in performances are assigned to members of the Santa Maria Civic Ballet.

Membership in the company is open to teens and adults.
