Pre-Professional classes - Vaganova Syllabus

Santa Maria Civic Ballet Friday  5:00-8:00pm

All ballet students level 3 and up may audition for the ballet.  Call (805) 598-7191 to request an audition time.  Ballet Company members will have additional opportunities to study and rehearse, work on lead parts and solos for performances, work on partnering, and have the opportunity to perform with professional dancers.

Ballet
Introductory Ballet 1
One hour Introductory Ballet techniques for ages 2-4.
Emphasis on strength, rhythm, coordination, imagination, jumping, acting, and classroom skills.

 Tuesday    5:00pm   

Introductory Ballet 2
One hour Beginning Ballet techniques for ages 3-7.
Continuing development of classroom skills, creativity, and independence.  Emphasis on musicality, strength, jumping, acting and performance skills.

 Friday 4:00pm

Introductory Ballet 3
One hour Advanced Beginning Ballet for ages 6-9.
Development of strength and artistic skills. Work on self control, self 
motivation, and independence.  Many new ballet steps are taught. Emphasis on dance routines, musicality, strength, jumping, dance combinations, acting and performance skills. More new ballet steps are taught along with their French names.  Preparation for pre-professional ballet classes. Perparation for pointe work.

Hip-Hop
Teens Hip-Hop
One hour class to learn hip-hop dance techniques for ages 8-19.
Teaches advanced rhythm patterns, coordination, rapid footwork, dance conditioning, hip-hop styling. Performance pieces and solos are learned and public performance opportunities are provided.

Adult/Teen Workout Classes

Adult / Teen Ballet
90 Minutes classical ballet training specifically for the adult/teen beginner.
Emphasis on stretch, strength and body awareness, ballet posture, port de bras, jumps, coordination and use of arms and head, aesthetic line, preparation for turns, pre-pointe and pointe work if desired.  Follows the Vaganova Syllabus for levels 1-4.  Classical Ballet repertoire is taught and students are invited to perform.

Advanced Ballet - Vaganova Syllabus

** All Classes Include Pointe - 2 classes weekly minimum

Vaganova Level  1   8-10yrs

90 Minutes pre-professional ballet with pre-pointe/beginning pointe. Emphasis on strength and body awareness, ballet poses, port de bras, jumps, pre-pointe and pointe work.  Follows the Vaganova Syllabus for early level 1.

 Thursday        4:30pm   

Vaganova Level  2  10-13yrs
90 Minutes pre-professional ballet with beginning pointe for students who have completed level 1A. Emphasis on additional jumps, strength and body awareness, ballet poses, port de bras, jumps, and pointe work.  Follows the Vaganova Syllabus for end of level 1.

Vaganova Level  3     11-15yrs
90 Minutes pre-professional ballet and pointe - for students who have completed level 1C. Emphasis on additional strengthening pointe work and jumps, advanced ballet poses, combinations, variations from the clasisics.  Follows the Vaganova Syllabus for level 2.

 Vaganova Level 4 & up  ages 13-adult

Advanced Ballet class following the Vaganova Sylllabus for Levels 4/5/6. Emphasis is on mastering balance, multiple turns, jumping combinations, advanced pointe, choreography. Classical Ballet reperoire and partnering are studied. Students are invited to join the Santa Maria Civic Ballet.
